Since starting your orthodontic treatment, you may feel like you’ve had to give up a lot of your favorite foods. But this fluffy, chocolatey take on a class breakfast staple is completely braces-friendly!
This recipe from Taste of Home is so easy even the kids can have fun helping. Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup of sugar
- 2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 1-½ teaspoons of baking powder
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 4 cups of buttermilk
- 1 cup of chocolate chips
Directions
- Combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and baking powder in a large bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs and buttermilk until blended.
- Stir the eggs and buttermilk blend into the dry ingredients just until moistened.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour ¼ cup of batter per pancake onto a lightly greased hot griddle.
- Flip the pancake when bubbles form on top of the batter.
- Cook until the second side is golden brown.
- Top with butter and add your favorite toppings: syrup, honey, whipped cream, berries — or even more chocolate chips!
