Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Breakfast doesn’t stop being enjoyable when you begin your smile journey — in fact, the fun’s just beginning with Dr. Dayan’s favorite chocolate chip cookie pancakes.

Since starting your orthodontic treatment, you may feel like you’ve had to give up a lot of your favorite foods. But this fluffy, chocolatey take on a class breakfast staple is completely braces-friendly!

This recipe from Taste of Home is so easy even the kids can have fun helping. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1-½ teaspoons of baking powder
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 4 cups of buttermilk
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips

  1. Combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and baking powder in a large bowl.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and buttermilk until blended.
  3. Stir the eggs and buttermilk blend into the dry ingredients just until moistened.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour ¼ cup of batter per pancake onto a lightly greased hot griddle.
  6. Flip the pancake when bubbles form on top of the batter.
  7. Cook until the second side is golden brown.
  8. Top with butter and add your favorite toppings: syrup, honey, whipped cream, berries — or even more chocolate chips!
