Fudgy Cocoa Bites

These soft fudge delights are quick and so easy to make that the whole family can help. The recipe makes about three dozen fudge bites, so you’ll have plenty to go around!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, combine shortening, sugar, water, and vanilla.
  3. Using an electric mixer, beat the ingredients until smooth.
  4. Add eggs and mix until blended.
  5. Mix flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder slowly into the shortening mixture, using low then medium speed.
  6. Drop the fudgy dough by the tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for 9 minutes at 375 degrees.
  8. Store in a covered container to keep the bites soft so you can enjoy these treats for days!
